The Quebec Mineral Exploration Association (QMEA) is pleased to announce that Xplor 2017 will take place under the honorary presidency of Mr. Ammar Al-Joundi, President of Agnico Eagle Mines Limited. On October 18 and 19, 2017, the event will bring together key stakeholders who contribute to the development of Quebec's mining sector and economy.

Mr. Al-Joundi was appointed President of Agnico Eagle in April 2015. He previously served as the company's Senior Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Al-Joundi has over 20 years of experience in finance and business strategy, and has extensive experience in mining, capital markets and banking.

Prior to assuming the role of President at Agnico Eagle, Mr. Al-Joundi held various executive positions at Barrick Gold Corporation and Barrick South America. Mr. Al-Joundi is a Professional Engineer who graduated (with distinction) from the University of Toronto in Mechanical Engineering and has an MBA (with honours) from the University of Western Ontario.

"Agnico Eagle has been at the heart of Quebec's economic development for several decades. We are proud to partner with the QMEA in order to demonstrate our common desire to promote mining entrepreneurship and its importance to Quebec's economic development. We support a number of exploration projects in the Quebec territory, for we believe in its potential, the calibre of its workforce and the know-how developed over many years," said Mr. Al-Joundi.

For 60 years, Agnico Eagle's mission has been to build a high-quality, easy-to-understand business-one that generates superior long-term returns for its shareholders, creates a great place to work for its employees and contributes positively to the communities in which it operates.

"It is an honour for our association to collaborate with a company that expanded and flourished after entering Quebec in the 1970s, and which is the largest gold producer in Quebec today. Agnico Eagle's growth over the years illustrates the strength of Québec's mineral industry," stated Mr. Frank Mariage, Chairman of the QMEA board of directors.

Xplor: The mining exploration conference, an industry reference

Organized by the QMEA, Xplor brings together more than 1,000 participants annually: investors, entrepreneurs, prospectors, engineers, geologists and service providers. Continuing along the same lines, the event will offer networking opportunities and a high-level conference program, making it a key industry event.
