Springfield College Chooses D2L's Brightspace to Reach Every Learner and Empower Them to Better Serve Their Communities

LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwired - July 20, 2017) - FUSION 2017 -- D2L's momentum continues, as Springfield College becomes the latest learning institution to select the company's Brightspace Learning Management System (LMS) to provide a more engaging and personalized learning experience for students. Springfield College, founded 1885, is famous worldwide as the birthplace of the game of basketball, created in 1891 by a physical education professor at the school.

The College's goal was to identify an easy, flexible and smart cloud-based LMS that delivers a consistent experience and world-class support to its faculty and students while enhancing faculty productivity and integrating with existing tools. To accomplish this, Springfield College will be deploying Brightspace to all of the College's approximately 5000 students both on campus and throughout the country. In addition, the platform's reporting and analytic features will eliminate the burden of manual and time-consuming course reviews and provide instructors with the time they need to pursue new pedagogical models. Using a single platform provides a more efficient and effective platform for professional development, staff training and course delivery.

About 25 percent of students are part of the School of Professional and Continuing Studies. The school provides accessible higher education for adult learners, many of whom are over 50 and come from underserved, economically disadvantaged communities. All students participate in service learning projects, where they learn leadership skills and tackle pressing community issues. In turn, the school's students and graduates have an exponential effect on the people they serve and communities in which they live and work.
