Where: Black Hat USA 2017 Business Hall, Arxan Booth #439
Who: Aaron Lint, ‎Vice President of Research at Arxan Technologies and Johnny Xmas, Sr. Information Security Consultant
What: Most enterprises focus on protecting their network and perimeter, and think their sensitive information and data are secure. During this talk, Aaron Lint and Johnny Xmas address how this traditional approach to network security leaves most enterprises vulnerable to a major attack -- especially given the exponential growth in web and mobile applications. They will cover the typical types of attacks that are happening at the application layer and will focus on pragmatic steps professionals can take to protect high-value applications from the growing threat of attacks occurring today.

Session: JavaScript: Perils & Opportunities
When: Wednesday, July 26 and Thursday, July 27 at 11:00 AM and at 4:00 PM
Where: Black Hat USA 2017 Business Hall, Arxan Booth #439
Who: Aaron Lint, ‎Vice President of Research at Arxan Technologies and Paul Dant, Senior Security Engineer at Arxan Technologies
What: JavaScript is everywhere today. This ubiquity has given rise to exponential growth in hybrid mobile apps and their frameworks. An increasing number of mobile payment and banking applications, which utilize JavaScript, are exposing large vulnerabilities of private consumer financial data. Aaron Lint and Paul Dant will present a few key precautions and technology best practices that enterprises can utilize to protect themselves and their customers against tampering and attacks that target JavaScript-based applications.

Aaron Lint is a frequent speaker for industry conferences with past speaking engagements including The Blockchain Event, Inside Dark Web and most recently Mobile Payments Conference, in addition to regularly being published in the media. At Black Hat USA 2016, Aaron won the Booz Allen Hamilton's Kaizen Capture the Flag competition.

Johnny Xmas is a penetration tester for the Chicago-based Security Assessment Firm "RedLegg." He's been speaking internationally on the topics of Information Security, Career Advancement and Social Engineering for nearly 15 years, both in and very far outside of the Information Security community. His infamous mixture of humor, raw sincerity and honest love of people often leads to lighthearted, but at their cores, serious discussions revolving around our innate desires to get in our own way.

Paul Dant has been coding and hacking since 1987 and still spends a lot of time thinking of ways to break systems. As a security researcher, he has performed offensive security testing of facilities ranging from nuclear energy plants to hospitals to tent-pole film sets. He is currently an evangelist at Arxan Technologies where he helps organizations better understand and address the inherent challenges around making software secure.
