BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - Jul 16, 2012) - WizIQ, a web-based education platform, announced its WizIQ Virtual Classroom App for the iPad today. The app is specially designed for students, giving them anytime, anywhere access to the WizIQ Virtual Classroom.
The WizIQ Virtual Classroom iPad App offers many of the features available in the desktop version. This is an important new instructional tool for many of the 2 million students and nearly 175,000 teachers, trainers, and teaching organizations currently registered on WizIQ.
The app makes online classes on WizIQ more accessible for the growing number of students who choose to carry an iPad everywhere instead of lugging a full-sized laptop with them. Students can:
- Attend online classes from home, a cafe, or wherever they happen to be.
- Connect with video and audio on their iPads.
- View presentations, reports, documents, PDFs, Excel spreadsheets, and multimedia files -- whatever the teacher shares with the class.
- See the whiteboard with all its drawing tools and write on it when the teacher allows.
- Text chat publicly with all participants
- Virtually raise their hands in the class for questions.
- Give instant feedback through polls as shared by the instructor.
The app is free for WizIQ users, enabling access to online classes from the most popular tablet in the world. WizIQ is also developing an Android app and will announce a beta program on that platform soon.
Chris Dawson, Contributing Editor at ZDNet, and WizIQ educator evangelist, noted in a post,
"The iPad app is one of those great tools for actually putting student iPads to use; it's ideal for increasing student interactivity. Whether in a physical classroom or a fully online class conducted anywhere, students have instructional materials in the palms of their hands and can engage with an interactive virtual whiteboard with a simple touch. That's 20 students, 30 students, or, in fact, any number of students who can contribute using a virtual whiteboard instead of just 1 or 2 on a standard IWB in a classroom."
WizIQ is a Chandigarh (Mohali), India-based company with an office in Boston, MA. WizIQ's online learning and teaching platform connects educators and students through its WizIQ Virtual Classroom technology and courses, with nearly 2 million registered users. WizIQ's teaching tools work from a web browser and now from a native iPad App. WizIQ's tools are unique in that they are both personal enough for the individual tutor and scalable enough to meet the needs of universities and major training and teaching organizations.
