SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Jun 19, 2013) - CompareNetworks, Inc., a leading provider of media and platform products in web and mobile formats for the scientific and healthcare industries, announced today they have acquired scrazzl Ltd., a technology platform that links scientific products with research articles.
CompareNetworks will integrate scrazzl's article analysis engine with the product directory marketplace of their life science vertical, Biocompare. Estimated to launch in late August, Biocompare product listings will include links to associated article citations allowing users to better evaluate products based on usage.
"At CompareNetworks we are focused on continually innovating and improving the user experience on our sites," said Brian Cowley, CEO for CompareNetworks. "In our recent Antibody Market Report, respondents cite literature citations and references as the second most important decision criteria used to decide from which supplier to purchase antibodies. By connecting journal articles to our detailed product information we will not only provide a better user experience on Biocompare, but we'll create a much-needed and comprehensive resource for the science community as a whole."
Utilizing the scrazzl article analysis engine, CompareNetworks will also offer syndication opportunities to life science publications. Publishers will be able to expand their reach by including articles in the Product and Citation Database. With a web-based product widget on article pages, publishers can enhance the workflows of their readers by providing links to product information directly from articles where products are mentioned.
"We are very excited to be a part of CompareNetworks," said David Kavanagh, CEO of scrazzl. "Our goal has always been to provide researchers with the most information possible so they can spend less time figuring out which product they need and more time on their research. Biocompare's comprehensive and detailed product information is the perfect complement to our technology, and I look forward to seeing the impact this will have on the life science industry."
