Municipality of Sainte-Genevieve-de-Berthier Received Funding From Government of Canada to Improve Sports Infrastructure


SAINTE-GENEVIÈVE-DE-BERTHIER, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Oct. 3, 2014) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, welcomes the official opening of the municipality of Sainte-Geneviève-de-Berthier's new sports facilities.

Assistance was granted for this project in the form of a $150,201 non-repayable financial contribution through CED's Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund.

Quick facts

  • Incorporated in 1855, the municipality of Sainte-Geneviève-de-Berthier, which has a population of more than 2,300, offers the community various sports and recreational infrastructure.
  • The financial support from CED was used to improve the town's soccer field, which is approved by the Quebec Soccer Federation, notably through the addition of a lighting system. The funding also served to expand the adjacent utility building.
