Nucleus Medical Media Releases Update to iHeart Touch App

Innovative App Features Medically Accurate Information about Heart Disease

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwired - February 22, 2016) - The iHeart Touch iPad app, created by Nucleus Medical Media, Inc., and newly sponsored by Arbor Pharmaceuticals, LLC, was recently updated to include even more heart health information. The latest software update includes the addition of three new videos and seven new articles on high blood pressure and heart failure. The iHeart Touch app is typically used by physicians and nurse educators as a resource to educate patients about heart conditions, but can be downloaded and used by anyone looking to learn more about the heart. The app has been downloaded over 30,000 times since its release. It is available for free at the Apple App Store.

The iHeart Touch app helps patients and their families understand diagnosis and treatment options for specific cardiovascular conditions, including high blood pressure, heart failure, and coronary artery disease. The app includes informational medical animations, reading materials, and an interactive feature that takes the user inside an artery, demonstrating the effects of years of plaque buildup from coronary artery disease and ending with an inside-look at a heart attack.

"Health literacy is the main goal behind iHeart Touch," says Nucleus Medical Media CEO and co-founder, Ron Collins. "The app helps patients understand how the heart works, and provides for a better understanding of the risks and benefits of common heart procedures."

The app has been available in the App Store since July 2012. New Jersey physician Jeff Taylor, a cardiologist at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, called the app a "great concept" when it first launched: "I believe the animations are much easier for patients to understand than still images printed on fliers, or even the pre-constructed printouts from an EMR we are required to give out as part of meaningful use criteria." In 2013, iHeart Touch won silver at the Medical Marketing & Media Awards in the "Best Medical Digital Initiative for Consumers" category.
