ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwired - June 17, 2016) - Nucleus Medical Media's iHeart Touch app was recently selected as a winner in the 18th annual Digital Health Awards program. This competition, held twice each year, recognizes the world's best digital health resources. The winners were chosen from nearly 500 entries, judged by a panel of distinguished experts in digital health media.
iHeart Touch received a Merit Award in the Mobile Digital Health Resources -- Mobile Application for Patient Communications category. The app is currently sponsored by Arbor Pharmaceuticals, LLC.
"We are honored to be selected as a winner," said Ron Collins, Nucleus Medical Media's CEO and Co-founder. "Heart disease is the #1 cause of death in the United States, killing nearly 610,000 people each year. We created iHeartTouch with the goal of raising awareness and increasing understanding among those at risk for cardiac disease."
The iHeart Touch app helps patients and their families understand diagnosis and treatment options for specific cardiovascular conditions, including high blood pressure, heart failure, and coronary artery disease. The app includes 3D medical animations, reading materials, and an interactive feature that takes the user inside an artery. This interactive module demonstrates the effects of years of plaque buildup from coronary artery disease.
The iHeart Touch app is available for free in the Apple App Store. Download it for iPad here: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/iheart-touch/id534675711.
The Digital Health Awards program is organized by the Health Information Resource Center (HIRC), a national clearinghouse for professionals who work in consumer health fields. Other well-known HIRC programs include the annual National Health Information Awards and the annual National Women's Health & Fitness Day®.
