1-800-411-SAVE Is the Fast, Easy & 100% Free Alternative to Expensive 411 Calls

PALO ALTO, CA -- 11/16/2005 -- Tired of being nickel-and-dimed by your phone carrier? Now Bay Area residents can strike one costly service from their phone bills: 411 directory assistance calls.

Today, 1-800-411-SAVE introduced the first free live operator 411 service for nationwide listings. 1-800-411-SAVE is immediately available to Bay Area residents in the 408, 510, 415, 650 or 925 area codes, and will be rolled out nationally next year.

Now, instead of dialing 411, which costs up to $1.75 a call, Bay Area residents can call 1-800-411-SAVE to get free directory assistance. Callers are immediately connected to live operators who look up residential, business or governmental listings by name or category. After listening to a 10-15 second advertisement, callers are provided with the number requested. The service is available 24 hours a day and is fast, easy and 100% free.

1-800-411-SAVE adds up to big savings for Bay Area residents. Sprint customers pay $1.25 for each 411 call they place from a mobile phone; Verizon charges $1.49; Cingular Wireless charges $1.50; and Virgin mobile charges $1.75.

Yet the high costs haven't dissuaded Bay Area residents, who placed nearly 150 million 411 calls last year. The total cost? Over 100 million dollars in 2005 alone.

"The average 411 user spends nearly $60 a year on directory assistance charges," said Andre Vanier, CEO of 1-800-411-SAVE. "Even in the Bay Area, that can buy you dinner at a nice restaurant (as long as you don't have a date!). Our message to Bay Area residents is that 1-800-411-SAVE is the better way."

Relevant Ads

Callers to 1-800-411-SAVE don't just get reliable directory assistance from live operators, they also hear timely and relevant special offers across 300 categories of products and services. Many of the advertisements offer callers special discounts. For example, a caller asking for a particular florist in San Francisco may hear an ad from a competing florist with an offer for 10% off any service. Callers can press the star key on their phone pad to be automatically connected to the advertiser, or can simply get the original number requested.

Live Operators

Some directory assistance services force users to navigate through frustrating computer-generated voice recognition systems, which can yield highly inaccurate results. 1-800-411-SAVE uses live operators who are happy to look up any number you request or even search for you by category.
