1-800-PetMeds® Donates to Another Animal Rescue & It's Not Where You Might Think

PetMeds® Donates Many Items to an Organization Dedicated to Helping Ferrets in Need

POMPANO BEACH, FL--(Marketwire - Mar 19, 2013) - As 1-800-PetMeds® takes strides in helping shelters in need, this month, the Company has stepped outside of their normal "dog and cat box," and donated many items to the Ferret Association of CT, Inc.

"Our donations aren't just for dogs and cats. We have helped bunny rescues, ferret rescues, and farms with all sorts of pets, including goats, horses, chickens, pigs, and ducks, and even one very friendly Florida panther. We support anyone out there who dedicates his or her time to helping animals in need," said Dana Baca, 1-800-PetMeds® Donations Coordinator.

The Ferret Association of CT, Inc., also known as FACT, was founded in 1991 and provides ferret shelter and adoption services, placement and behavioral counseling, and care and health information to ferrets in need. FACT is one of the largest shelters solely dedicated to the health and wellness of ferrets. FACT takes ferrets from individuals who can no longer care for them, and from shelters that lack the knowledge necessary for taking care of ferrets.

After reaching out to 1-800-PetMeds®, FACT received items such as pet beds, pet shampoo, 1-800-PetMeds® Ear Cleansing Solution, stuffed animals and pet cologne.

"I really want to thank you for your prompt replies and the gifts your company sent. Little shelters like ours, especially for specialty animals like ferrets, rarely have the opportunity to participate in big fundraisers or be the recipient of affinity donations from corporations... It means we can pay for lifesaving surgery for an animal and maybe that doesn't mean much to a lot of people, but it sure means a lot to that animal, and to us at FACT," said L. Vanessa Gruden, Shelter Director.

Every month 1-800-PetMeds® donates items to many shelters in need. Commonly the Company gives flea & tick preventatives, vitamins and supplements to keep pets flea free and in optimal health. PetMeds® dedicates their time to helping pet shelters or rescue organizations in need, so if you know of one in need, visit the1-800-PetMeds® Charitable Causes page. The Company also encourages everyone to read about featured animal shelters that are doing great things for pets in need, and the complete list of shelters that have received donations from 1-800-PetMeds®.
