10,000 Lone Soldiers and Soldiers In-Need Will Receive Chanukah Gift Vouchers From International Fellowship of Christians and Jews & Friends of the Israel Defense Forces

Some 10,000 Lone Soldiers and Soldiers In-Need Will Receive a Fellowship Gift Voucher for Chanukah From the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews and Friends of the Israel Defense Forces, a Total Value of Over 1.6 Million Dollars

JERUSALEM--(Marketwire - December 8, 2010) - The fourth year of the Chanukah gift voucher project is now underway. A Chanukah gift is being given to lone soldiers and soldiers in-need by the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews (IFCJ) and Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF), in collaboration with the Association for the Wellbeing of Israel's Soldiers (AWIS) and the Israeli clothing chain H&O: a gift card to be used at H&O stores across Israel. Combat and combat-support soldiers will each receive vouchers worth 1,000 shekels ($270), and the others will receive 400 shekels ($108).

The gift is intended to enable the soldiers to purchase their basic clothing needs -- outerwear, underwear, shoes, and cosmetics.

The scale of the 2010 project is over 1.6 million dollars.

Over the past four years, since the project was launched, gifts totaling over 6.6 million dollars have been distributed.

Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein, Founder and President of IFCJ: "I am happy to have the opportunity to express our appreciation to the IDF soldiers who maintain our security. Our contribution, donated by thousands of Christian supporters of Israel in the USA, sends a message to the soldiers and to the Jewish people that they are not alone, and that there are those who are committed to their wellbeing and support them at all times."

Major General (Res.) Yitzhak (Jerry) Gershon, National Director of FIDF: "FIDF and IFCJ, together with AWIS, are committed to promoting the wellbeing of IDF soldiers. The Chanukah gift voucher is our way of recognizing the actions of IDF soldiers who choose to serve despite the economic hardship, family problems, and personal challenges they face. We believe that we need to help and support those who have chosen to contribute to the State of Israel."
