$100,000 Received by Tornado-Stricken Franklin Technology Center From MOHELA

ST. LOUIS, MO--(Marketwire - Oct 4, 2011) - MOHELA just sent $100,000 to Franklin Technology Center to assist with their efforts in rebuilding their campus and assisting the students who use this facility that was devastated by the recent EF5 tornado which struck the Joplin, MO area in May 2011. Franklin Technology Center provides a variety of career and technical educational programs that offer students the opportunity to develop essential skills, attitudes and knowledge for employment in many fields from business, health care and veterinary services to automotive services, graphic design and construction, to name a few specialty areas.

The grant money may be used for any type of financial aid program that provides grants and scholarships to students attending Franklin Technology Center. "This funding could not have come at a better time for us," noted Dr. Mark Lynch, Assistant Director of Adult Education at Franklin Technology Center. Lynch further noted, "While insurance will help with a majority of our expenses in rebuilding, the facility was having a hard time meeting the financial needs of our students and MOHELA's contribution will go a long way in making a big difference in the lives of our students."

The MOHELA Board agreed to help Franklin Technology at their last board meeting in September 2011, instructing MOHELA's CEO Raymond H. Bayer, Jr. to move forward with the funding. "We are very proud to be in a position to be able to help Franklin Technology Center with this grant funding," noted Mr. Bayer. "MOHELA was created to help the students and families in Missouri in obtaining a higher education at any of the 154 educational institutions within the state," Bayer further noted. This year celebrates MOHELA's 30 year anniversary of assisting families in Missouri with their educational loan servicing needs.

MOHELA is one of the largest student loan companies dedicated to providing excellence in student loan servicing in America and is a leading holder and secondary market of student loans with more than $4 billion in assets. For over 30 years, students, families and schools have come to depend and rely on MOHELA to assist them with the servicing needs of their student loans and have come to expect the highest levels of service we have consistently provided to enable them to successfully complete postsecondary educational programs.
