NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - August 12, 2010) - 10gen, the company that started the open source MongoDB project, today announced the hiring of Roger Bodamer, SVP Products and Engineering, and Kerry Ancheta, SVP of Worldwide Sales. In addition, 10gen will be expanding operations to the West Coast in order to meet the demand for support and services among the growing MongoDB user base. The Bay Area office will include engineering support and sales staff to complement the core engineering team based in New York City.

"Kerry brings expertise in open source database sales and marketing. Bodamer, whose resume includes senior management positions at Oracle and Apple, will be responsible for leading the engineering and support staff. Bodamer's experience includes 12 years with Oracle's Database and Application Server development organization, where he pioneered products that delivered distributed and heterogeneous interoperability. He also served as COO and SVP of product operations and engineering at Apple's PowerSchool division. He holds several patents for database and middleware technology.
Ancheta, who previously led enterprise sales at MySQL, will develop the sales organization at 10gen. Ancheta has 15 years of experience in the database business. Prior to joining 10gen, Ancheta spent over 8 years leading enterprise and embedded sales in various global markets for MySQL Inc.; helping to lead it to a successful acquisition by Sun Microsystems. He combines a deep knowledge of open source business with traditional commercial business.
