11th Annual Anges Financiers de Montreal Competition Now Open to Quebec's Youngest and Brightest Entrepreneurs

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 11, 2006) - The 11th annual Anges financiers de Montreal contest was launched yesterday by the Honorary President, Mr. Charles Guay, President and Chief Executive Officer of National Bank Securities and Altamira Investment Services. Presented by Canada Economic Development, the goal of this event is to help young entrepreneurs with new and innovative ideas connect with experienced business professionals prepared to invest in their projects. The contest is open to all entrepreneurs in the province of Quebec between the age of 18 and 40 and organized jointly by the Fondation du maire de Montreal pour la jeunesse (fmmj) and the Jeune Chambre de commerce de Montreal (JCCM).

"It is important to give professional advices to young entrepreneurs so they can manage their business project", said Charles Guay. "This contest means, for them, an opportunity to find partners and investors that could help them to make their dream come true. This investment in young entrepreneurs ensures Quebec's future in terms of entrepreneurship and innovations."

Young entrepreneurs interested in registering should submit their candidacies by no later than January 29th, 2007. Information regarding the competition, the rules and the registration file can be found by consulting the official website (www.angesfinanciers.qc.ca). Twenty projects will be chosen from among all submissions, to be presented during the Anges financiers de Montreal gala dinner on March 28, 2007. This evening represents a unique opportunity for young and innovative entrepreneurs to connect with experienced business leaders, the 'Angels', and to benefit from their willingness to invest either time and/or money in their projects.

From among the entrepreneurs selected at the gala, the most impressive candidates will be asked to present their projects to potential investors. Winners in the categories Best Start-up and Best Growing Business will each receive a grant of $10,000 sponsored by Canada Economic Development and Samson Belair/Deloitte & Touche. In addition, a $5,000 Jury's Pick award will be awarded by Sun Life Financial. The company will also give to each finalist a free training workshop on intellectual property.

About the fmmj

The Fondation du maire de Montreal pour la jeunesse (fmmj) is a non-profit organization with a mission to help young, low-income Montrealers to start up a business, including the artistic community. Its grant program acts as a spark to trigger financing. Its network provides access to support and mentoring services that contribute to the success of the businesses funded. The actions taken by the Fondation are based on a spirit of social consciousness, mutual aid and reciprocity. Since 1996, the fmmj has provided 3 362 325 $ in grants to young Montrealers between the ages of 18 and 35. These grants have allowed the implementation of 595 projects and the creation of over 1,200 jobs.

The JCCM is an association of young executives, professionals, entrepreneurs and self-employed business professionals under the age of 40. Founded in 1931, it represents some 1400 members, whose average age is 32.
