1,200 Bay Area Volunteers Unite for Be The Change Day

HandsOn Bay Area Hosts Tenth Annual Day of Service; Service Projects in Alameda, San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - September 11, 2008) -

WHAT:     HandsOn Bay Area will host Be The Change Day, one of the largest
          days of volunteerism in the Bay Area with 1,200 volunteers
          expected. Twenty-one projects will span Alameda, San Francisco,
          San Mateo and Santa Clara counties. Activities include:

          -- Planting, trail building, and clearing invasive species at
             six parks;
          -- Painting and cleaning five homeless shelters;
          -- Revitalizing three urban farms and a zoo;
          -- Painting, gardening and cleaning five schools.
