12th Annual Canadian Brewing Awards in Fredericton

FREDERICTON, NEW BRUNSWICK--(Marketwired - June 1, 2014) - On May 31st, the 12th annual Canadian Brewing Awards presentation was held at The Fredericton Convention Centre in Fredericton, New Brunswick. There were 916 beers in 38 categories entered into this year's competition from over 130 Canadian breweries. Awards of gold, silver or bronze were given to the top three scoring beers in each category. The judging was conducted in Toronto over a three-day period by 40 BJCP certified beer judges in a blind and controlled tasting.

The Awards presentation took place at the 3rd Annual Canadian Craft Brewers Conference. This two-day industry only event featured guest speakers and seminars geared to Canadian Brewers' interests and professional development. There was also a trade show floor where industry suppliers and event sponsors were able to meet with Canadian brewers in a relaxed, informal setting.

The CBAs again recognized one brewery for outstanding achievement, with Toronto, Ontario's Great Lakes Brewery being awarded as 2014's "Brewery of the Year" for a second consecutive year.

This year's "Beer of the Year", for the highest scoring single entry beer in all categories, was awarded to Old Yale Brewing Co. from Chilliwack, British Columbia for their Sasquatch Stout.

The Canadian Brewing Awards and the Canadian Craft Brewers Conference are owned and operated by TAPS Media, publishers of Canada's only national beer magazine.
