$15 Million Powerball Jackpot Won!

POWERBALL--(Marketwire - October 4, 2007) - One lucky ticket in Connecticut matched all 6 numbers Wednesday evening and walked away with the $15 million jackpot. The holder of the winning tickets will now have to decide to either take the 29-year, 30-installment annuity, or take the one time cash "lump sum" amount of $7,035,647.

There were a total of 387,559 additional winning tickets in America's Game Wednesday evening. Those winners won prizes totaling $6,216,391.

The numbers drawn were 2, 4, 14, 15, 28 and the Powerball was 23. The Power Play multiplier was 4.

Nine tickets correctly matched the 5 white numbers and won $200,000. These tickets were sold in Iowa (1), Kentucky (2), New Hampshire (1), Oregon (2), Pennsylvania (2), and Rhode Island (1). One additional ticket at this prize level that was sold in Connecticut also had the Power Play for a total win of $800,000 cash!

Twenty-two tickets matched 4 white numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000. Ten additional players not only matched 4+1, but also wisely purchased the Power Play option for a total win of $40,000!

A total of 79,908 winning Powerball plays were multiplied by 4 Wednesday evening. Winners were able to do so by purchasing the Power Play option for one dollar. With Power Play you can multiply your winnings, except for the jackpot, from 2 to 5 times. At the beginning of each drawing a wheel is spun to select that night's multiplier.

Players purchased $16,115,943 in Powerball and Power Play tickets between Sunday and Wednesday night.

The jackpot for Saturday, October 6th will be $15 million.

The lotteries sold more than $2.5 billion in Powerball tickets in FY07. That translates into more than $725 million for worthwhile state projects.

Powerball is now played in 29 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
