16 Stone Tracey Transforms With Zest For Running At Fitness First Manchester

MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Aug. 28, 2009) - A 28 year old from Manchester has transformed her life from a 16 stone, unfit person who had never jogged before, into a running enthusiast now signed up to the 2011 London Marathon.

Tracey Shaw always had trouble with her weight but in January 2009 decided to finally get motivated and make a permanent change to her life and incidentally, her health.

Weighing in at 16 stone, Tracey did her research on all the gyms in Manchester available to her and decided to join her local Manchester gym which had all the facilities needed to keep motivated in losing weight and started a program with personal trainer Steve.

"I wanted to make sure I kept the motivation levels high so Steve devised some challenging but fun goals that were achievable" said Tracey.

Tracey discovered a passion for running and by May had completed her first competitive race in Manchester, the BUPA 10k in a very respectable 1 hour 12 minutes. Since January, Tracey has shed an incredible three stone and feels fantastic!

"It was great to get my first 10k under my belt, now I have my sights set on the Bupa Great North Run and the 2011 London Marathon. I can't believe how much more energy and confidence I now have," continued Tracy.

"Fitness First showed me the person I really am and brought out the motivation in me," she said. "Now I just want more people to know that if I did it then so can they."

Fitness First managing director John Gamble said: "Tracey is such an inspiration, to go from never having ran before to signing up for a marathon in the space of eight months is incredible. Fitness First is thrilled to have played a part in her new zest for life and wish her every success in the future and the events she takes part in."
