18 Wheels of Christmas Drives Santa to the Food Bank

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Dec. 21, 2009) - It's not Dasher or Dancer, or even Rudolph pulling Santa's sleigh this year, it's not even a sleigh he's driving, it's a 53 foot trailer! It is the wheels of hope, the drive against hunger; the 18 wheels of Christmas heading for the Calgary Food Bank. This Monday, December 21 at 5pm, the trailer decked out in Christmas lights, driven by Santa himself will be unloading donations of non perishable food and cash at the Calgary Food Bank.

For the seventh year in a row, participating members of the transportation industry have been collecting food for the Calgary Food Bank. Last year, Santa and his 18 wheels delivered more than 31,000 lbs of food to help feed hungry Calgarians. The goal this year has been to pack the trailer even fuller and make this food drive the biggest and best yet.

Over the past years, Rosenau Transport has refined and built upon this concept by engaging several industry partners and corporations. In 2007, the involvement of these corporations enabled the 18 Wheels of Christmas campaign to obtain a brand new 53' trailer with a heater, and new and exciting graphics which are enhanced by fabulous LED lighting that will be lighting up the docks of the Calgary Food Bank.

Before its final delivery to the Food Bank, many miles of hope will be covered, having stopped to spend time at grocery stores and participating locations collecting donations, leading the way by example for the many members and partners of the Transportation Industry and our community.

The media is invited to catch the magic of the 18 Wheels of Christmas at the Calgary Food Bank loading docks on Monday, December 21st between 5 and 6pm.
