2005 CANADIAN WOMEN'S OPEN - MONDAY QUALIFIER STARTING TIMES

Attention: Sports Editor, Travel/Tourism Editor HALIFAX--(CCNMatthews - July 10, 2005) - Twenty Canadians are hoping to make a dream come true Monday as they attempt to land a spot in the field at the 2005 BMO Financial Group Canadian Women's Open, Canada's only LPGA Tour event.

With the qualifier expanded from four spots to eight, odds are in the Canadians' favour as the 33-player event gets underway at 1:00 pm at Glen Arbour Golf Course.

Monday's schedule of events:

Downtown Kickoff Festival
(Monday, July 11, 11:30 am-2:00 pm - Grand Parade)
Join local professional and junior golfers, BMO Financial Group, the Royal Canadian Golf Association and the Downtown Halifax Business Commission at Grand Parade in Halifax to kick-off the BMO Financial Group Canadian Women's Open, Canada's only LPGA Tour event. The festival will include a series of golf activities and some expert advice from local pros and young golfers from the BMO Financial Group Future Links Junior Golf Program. There will also be live music, featuring Evans & Doherty with Dave McIssac and a BBQ lunch.

Women's Only Pro-Am
(Monday, July 11, Glen Arbour Golf Course)
On Monday, July 11, golf fans are invited to check out the Women's Only Pro-Am. The Women's Only Pro-Am will feature an LPGA pro playing alongside three amateur golfers and one junior girl.

Tickets
Tickets during the week can be purchased on-site at Glen Arbour Golf Course and range from $10 - $45 a day, or $125 for a weekly pass. One junior age 15 and under will be admitted to the grounds free when accompanied by a ticketed adult. For more information please call 1-866-571-LPGA.

Conducted by the Royal Canadian Golf Association, the 2005 BMO Financial Group Canadian Women's Open is Canada's only LPGA Tour event, promising a full week of world-class golf and family fun July 11-17 at the picturesque Glen Arbour Golf Course. Highlights include a downtown kick-off festival at the Grand Parade, a Women's Only Pro-Am and open qualifier on the Monday, Family Day with junior clinics and a celebrity skins challenge with NHL stars Brad Richards, Jody Shelly and Rick Vaive on Tuesday, Championship Pro-Am on Wednesday with special guest Anne Murray and four championship rounds running Thursday through Sunday.
