2005 World Masters Games to Visit Fort McMurray

EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(CCNMatthews - March 17, 2005) - One thing all
Canadian cities have in common is the love for sport. In 2005, Canada
will once again be the host country to a major international sports
event - the 6th World Masters Games - to be held July 22 - 31, 2005 in
Edmonton.

The Edmonton 2005 World Masters Games Local Organization invites media
to a special presentation being hosted in your community on:



Monday, March 21
12:00 noon - 1:30 p.m.
MacDonald Island Park, Banquet Room, Second Floor
151 MacDonald Drive, Fort McMurray


Nicole Poirier, Sport Director of the Edmonton 2005 World Masters Games,
will give an overview of the Games. Fort McMurray's sport and recreation
community, and local Masters athletes will be attending, including local
City Councillor and principal of Fort McMurray Composite High School
Phil Meagher who is registered in the Half Marathon. The public is also
welcome to attend.

The World Masters Games are the largest international multi-sport event.
Edmonton is getting set to host 16,000 recreational and elite athletes,
25 years of age and up, from as many as 100 different countries, to
compete in 27 sporting events, over 10 days ... celebrating sport for
life.

Edmonton looks forward to welcoming citizens of Fort McMurray to the
Games this summer.
