2006 Sales Up for Subaru Canada

MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 4, 2007) - Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) today announced that total annual sales of 16,190 units are up by 1.4 per cent over total sales for 2005. Vehicles sales in December reached 1,264 units, an increase of 3.4 per cent over the same month last year.

It was an all-time record year for the Subaru Impreza, with dealers selling 6,155 units, an increase of 0.3 per cent over the previous record, set in 2002.

"The exceptional Impreza lineup is doing a wonderful job of attracting new buyers to Subaru, as well as meeting the growing expectations of our long-time customers," said Katsuhiro Yokoyama, chairman, president and CEO of SCI. "New buyers, and younger buyers, are discovering that the entry level model is an exceptional combination of power and value, and the Impreza WRX and STI are attracting driving enthusiasts looking for lots of sporty performance. This interest is drawing attention to the same qualities that exist throughout the Subaru lineup."
