2007: AN HISTORIC YEAR FOR CUNARD LINE

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(CCNMatthews - March 29, 2006) - A special anniversary, a new ship and an even more flexible transatlantic programme are the highlights of Cunard's 2007 schedule, featuring the most famous ocean liners in the world, Queen Elizabeth 2, Queen Mary 2 and, of course, Queen Victoria. The programme goes on sale on 3 April.

The highlight of QE2's year will undoubtedly be the 40th anniversary of her launch by The Queen on 20 September 1967. To commemorate this historic event the ship is undertaking a special round-Britain voyage - a 'lap of honour' - between 15 and 23 September which will include a 'maiden' overnight call to the Tyne, a public 'anniversary party' at The Pierhead in Liverpool, and an emotional return to her birthplace, the Clyde, exactly 40 years to the day. Demand for this unique voyage is expected to be high, and prices range from GBP 899 to GBP 6,799 per person.

Cunard's new liner, Queen Victoria, will enter service on 11 December 2007. While that Maiden Voyage is sold out, there is still some space on her 16-night maiden Christmas Voyage which leaves Southampton for the Canaries on 23 December and will call at Vigo, Lisbon, Malaga, Funchal, Las Palmas, Arrecife, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Casablanca and Gibraltar. Her first ever Christmas Day will be spent at sea. Fares range from GBP 2,199 to GBP 18,339 per person.

Meanwhile Cunard's flagship, Queen Mary 2, is offering even more transatlantic crossings than last year and with even more flexible land packages.

QE2 will offer three spectacular longer voyages roundtrip from Southampton in 2007 including a 22-day trip to the Caribbean via New York (which can be shortened by joining in New York or Fort Lauderdale), a 21-day Christmas Caribbean Calypso voyage (with fares from GBP 2,699 to GBP 18,419) and a 19-day voyage to Canada and New England. The latter calls at Quebec, Halifax, Bar Harbor, Boston and New York and has fares ranging from GBP 1,999 to GBP 16,199 per person.

QE2 will also offer 19 voyages to the Mediterranean and Northern Europe in 2007, ranging from two-night 'Getaway' voyages to 16-night Eastern Mediterranean voyages. Her 10-night 'Taste of the Mediterranean' voyage leaves Southampton on 13 May and calls at Lisbon, Alghero, Cannes, Barcelona and Gibraltar; fares range from GBP 859 to GBP 6,059.

Of course, a QE2 voyage to the Mediterranean can offer so much more than 'ordinary' Mediterranean cruises because of her fast speeds.

Queen Mary 2 will spend much of the year fulfilling the role for which she was built - crossing the Atlantic between Southampton and New York. In 2007 there is an expanded transatlantic programme which offers 22 six-day crossings, together with a seven-day crossing between Southampton and Fort Lauderdale.

Providing a scheduled transatlantic service between the UK and America is the reason Cunard came into being 167 years ago, and the passing years have given such voyages a patina of tradition, glamour and excitement.

Today Cunard alone offers such evocative and historic voyages, and arriving by sea in New York remains one of life's 'must-do' experiences.

Fares for the six-day crossings begin at GBP 899 per person including a transatlantic air fare in the opposite direction. A Grand Duplex will cost from GBP 13,999 per person including flight.

Passengers choosing the transatlantic programme can opt to extend their stay in the US, and to upgrade their flights, in the most flexible 'package' programme Cunard has offered for many years. Fares for the 'Windsor Combination' start from GBP 1,099 and include a premium balcony cabin, two nights at the Sheraton Towers and a return flight. Choice also extends to regional airports - and direct flights to and from seven airports in the UK are available.

Other highlights of Queen Mary 2's programme include eight, ten and 14-day Caribbean voyages roundtrip from New York, and two four-day 'Getaway' voyages from Southampton with fares beginning at GBP 499 per person, rising to GBP 5,359.

Also of note is a stunning 21-day 'Autumn Adventure' voyage to Canada and New England, beginning and ending in Southampton; fares range from GBP 2,499 to GBP 40,999.

Queen Mary 2 will offer a new dining option for 2007. 46 staterooms will be re-graded AA grade and guests in these staterooms will enjoy delicious 5-star cuisine in an exclusive private dining area within the Britannia Restaurant. This single-seating club-like restaurant will offer the Britannia Restaurant menu, plus various a la carte options and table-side flambe service.

As in previous years there are generous savings for those who book early. For 2007, savings of up to 45% are available on Queen Mary 2, and up to 50% on QE2 will be available for those who book before 31 May, subject to availability.

Reservations can be made on 0845 071 0300.
