2008 NHL Entry Draft First-Day Access Passes All Distributed

Fans encouraged to return Saturday for six rounds and 181 selected players

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 19, 2008) - With the Ottawa Senators and NHL expecting Hockey Country to break a first-day record for attendance at an NHL Entry Draft, which was established in Calgary in 2000 at 13,269, and with all first-day access passes distributed, the hockey club is asking fans to come early on Friday to ensure themselves a seat and to attend all the Fan Fest events at Scotiabank Place.

The Senators and NHL are also encouraging fans to take part in Saturday's events. In addition to the 30 players selected in the first round on Friday, another 181 NHL hopefuls will be taken in rounds two through seven.

Scotiabank Place will open its doors for seating to the general public at 6:30 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday. Fans are reminded that having an access pass does not guarantee a seat - it is firstcome, firstserve.

The draft festivities run from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Friday and resume at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Food and drink will be available, while fans can test the speed of their shot in one of two hardest-shot cages, shoot the lights out on an interactive net, test their reflexes as a goalie or simply soak up the atmosphere of Scotiabank Place in the summer with live music and fun for fans of all ages.

Presented by Upper Deck, the 2008 NHL Draft Trading Card and Memorabilia Show will also take place from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. The show will feature Ottawa Senators forward Nick Foligno signing autographs between 11 a.m. and noon on Saturday, and vendors from eastern Canada and the United States displaying and selling hockey memorabilia. In addition, fans can get their picture taken with hockey's Holy Grail, the Stanley Cup, and other silverware at a Hockey Hall of Fame NHL trophy display on the Scotiabank Place concourse.

Fans attending the 2008 NHL Draft Trading Card and Memorabilia Show presented by Upper Deck who purchase and open five packs of any 2007-08 Upper Deck, Fleer or O-Pee-Chee NHL trading card product (except Victory) will receive a 2008 NHL Draft-exclusive six-card set (while supplies last).
