2009 IIHF World Junior Championship host organizing committee comments on judge's ruling

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 24, 2008) - Cyril Leeder, vice-chair of the host organizing for the 2009 IIHF World Junior Championship host organizing committee, made the following comments on the ruling by Superior Court Justice Charles Hackland regarding the City of Ottawa's application for an injunction to stop mass picketing by the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 279 during the event.

"We are pleased, that after consultation with City and ATU officials, Judge Hackland was able to issue his ruling," said Leeder. "This ruling will mean no disruption for fans attending games at the Civic Centre and the Samsung FanFest at Lansdowne Park."

The Samsung FanFest is located in the Aberdeen Pavilion at Lansdowne Park.

Fans are reminded that parking at the Civic Centre is limited and they are encouraged to carpool.

We have communicated to all fans and volunteers that they should carpool to each venue. Advertisements have been placed in local newspapers indicating that fans should not arrive too early for the second game of the day, so they don't interfere with fans leaving from the first game. They should arrive an hour before the first game (1:30 at the Civic Centre and 2:30 at SBP Arena) and a half an hour to an hour before the second game (5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Civic Centre and 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at SBP Arena).

There will be regular updates on the event website regarding traffic, parking, commuting to the games and other information. Please visit the 2009 IIHF World Junior Championship section at www.hockeycanada.ca.
