2009 L.A. County Fair Honors Heroes Friday, September 11

POMONA, CA--(Marketwire - September 10, 2009) - The 2009 L.A. County Fair will honor heroes with a "Day for Heroes" this Friday, Sept. 11, including the first responders who put their lives on the line during 9/11 and everyday for the community, the military who serve our country and the firefighters who have been working around the clock to contain the recent Los Angeles fires. All active and retired military, reserves, police, firefighters and paramedics plus their one guest can get into the Fair with a $1 admission. Dollar admission for our heroes starts this Friday and runs every Friday of the 2009 Fair.

This Friday, the "Day for Heroes" will commence with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Steve Wilkos of The Steve Wilkos Show, a former Marine and police officer, include a Day for Heroes-themed parade and end with the Peter Frampton and Kansas concert.

All proceeds from tickets sold to our heroes will be donated to USA Cares, an organization that provides financial and advocacy assistance to post-9/11 active duty U.S. military service personnel, veterans and their families.

If you need even one more reason to celebrate Fridays at the Fair, participate in Food Drive Fridays. Anyone can bring five canned products of Ralphs brand non perishable food from noon-6 p.m. and get in free that day. All canned goods will be donated to the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank, which mobilizes resources to fight hunger in the community.

The L.A. County Fair has something for everyone, including Jurassic Planet, A Pirate's Life, Bark Park and FairView Farms as well as wine tasting, delicious food, shopping and carnival rides. There's actually so much to do that we can't even list them all.

The L.A. County Fair runs until Oct. 4, 2009 and is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Connect to the L.A. County Fair for promotions on Twitter at and on Facebook at or keep up with the latest news with Hot Blog on a Stick at and
