2009 Manhattan Snow Storm Leaves Big Mess of Snow and Ice for Slip and Fall Attorney

After the First Giant Snow Storm of the Season to Hit New York, Personal Injury Attorney David Perecman Talks Specifically About the Dangers of Ice and Snow, the Cause of Many Slip and Fall Accidents

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - December 29, 2009) - Accidents can occur at any time of the year and in any type of weather, but ice and snow conditions can increase their chance of occurrence. Numerous dangerous conditions caused by winter weather can lead to a slip and fall accident. And now that Manhattan is digging itself out of 11 inches of snow, slip and fall attorneys urge pedestrians to take extra care to watch where they walk, mind how they walk, and wear the right footwear.

Especially in New York, personal injury attorneys know that snow and ice can hide, or even make it impossible to see broken sidewalks, holes, obstacles, or other dangers. Many injuries from slip and falls due to snow and ice can often be severe. Examples of injuries include broken bones, brain or neck injuries, paralysis, and even death.

"What can make these accidents worse for the victims is that they are often easily preventable," said David Perecman, a New York personal injury and slip and fall attorney with a firm in Manhattan.

Routine snow and ice removal and salting, as needed, can make sidewalks safer. In fact, the hazards of ice and snow can often be attributed to negligence on the part of property owners or those responsible for managing the property.

"If you are injured in a slip and fall caused by snow and ice, try to get recorded evidence as soon as possible," said David Perecman, Manhattan slip and fall attorney. "Take a picture of where the accident happened because the snow and ice that caused the accident can often be easily cleaned up or, the evidence may melt."

He then added, "If a client contacts the Perecman Firm after being injured in New York, our personal injury attorneys will immediately send a professional out to photograph the scene of the accident."

According to the New York Post, the mayor has said that no major accidents have yet been reported due to this past snowstorm.
