2010 Storage Visions Conference Announces Marvell as Platinum Sponsor

Keynote Talk Focuses on Plug Computing -- a Revolutionary Internet and Storage Platform

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - December 2, 2009) - The Ninth Annual Storage Visions Conference (SV 2010) announces that Marvell Semiconductors, Inc. will be a Platinum sponsor at this year's event. SV 2010 will be held at the Riviera Hotel Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV, January 5-6, 2010.

The Storage Visions Conference is the premier event bringing together digital storage oriented people from throughout the digital content creation, distribution and user value chain.

Dr. Simon Milner, Vice President and General Manager of the Enterprise Business Unit at Marvell will give a keynote talk on Plug Computing: a unique approach to enable high-performance, always on, always connected, and environmentally friendly computing and storage resources. The talk titled, Network Attached Storage (NAS) For Mere Mortals, focuses on how Plug Computing can enable the development of "plug-n-play" NAS devices while spurring innovation in storage and Internet delivery.

"We've already seen a number of solutions spawn from Marvell's Plug Computing concept," said Milner. "Developing a 'plug-n-play,' true consumer NAS device is just one example of how Plug Computing can change the face of storage devices. By sharing the SheevaPlug's potential at SV 2010, we hope the Marvell® SheevaPlug™ can drive more innovation and new ideas for the storage community."

Following is a description of Dr. Milner's keynote: With consumers creating and using ever increasing amounts of digital content, the need for easily configurable and readily accessible storage in the home has never been more acute. So far, consumers have largely opted for DAS devices, which they find easy to use. NAS devices, which add sharing capabilities, always-on and remote data access have not been widely adopted because of their perceived complexity. The Marvell SheevaPlug allows for the easy deployment of consumer-friendly applications that can provide the desired functionality of NAS devices with the zero-configuration, "plug-n-play" benefits of DAS devices. The Marvell SheevaPlug is an embedded computer that plugs into the wall socket and runs network based services with PC-class processing power and enables consumer-grade NAS functionality. Furthermore, having PC-like processing power and supporting an open source development model, the SheevaPlug enables easy deployment of rich applications like media servers in the consumer home, thereby allowing for the fullest use of consumer digital content.

SV 2010 organizer Tom Coughlin welcomes Marvell as a Platinum sponsor of SV 2010, "Storage Visions is pleased to welcome Marvell, as a Platinum sponsor to speak on this topic at SV 2010. Innovative home network connected solutions like the SheevaPlug will drive new devices, services, and value-added applications in the home to everyone."
