2010 L.A. County Fair Honors Heroes During Weekend of September 11

POMONA, CA--(Marketwire - September 7, 2010) -  Visit the 2010 L.A. County Fair this weekend to honor and celebrate our heroes. This weekend, all active and retired military, reserves, police, firefighters and paramedics plus their one guest can get into the Fair for $1. All $1 admission proceeds will be donated to USA Cares, an organization that provides financial and advocacy assistance to post-9/11 active duty U.S. military service personnel, veterans and their families.

The Fair's "Weekend for Heroes" will commence this Friday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Steve Wilkos of The Steve Wilkos Show, a former Marine and police officer, and will also include a Heroes-themed parade and end with the Rick Springfield concert

The perfect destination for family and friends, the Fair has countless ways to save with an assortment of discount tickets and constant promotions for a reduced price, every day through Oct. 3! This Friday and every Friday during the Fair, anyone can bring five cans of Ralphs private label non perishable food for Ralphs Food Drive Fridays from noon-6 p.m. and get in FREE that day. All canned goods will be donated to the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank, which mobilizes resources to fight hunger in the community.

The L.A. County Fair truly has something for everyone, including new exhibits such as Our Body: The Universe Within, providing an educational "inside look" at the fascinating interworkings of the human body; L.A. in Ice, a frozen attraction, featuring famous Los Angeles landmarks carved in ice; Jurassic Planet with life-sized, animatronic dinosaurs and Mojo's Jungle, complete with Mojo, the Fair's own Capuchin monkey jungle ambassador and her kangaroo and snake friends!

From tasting this year's Los Angeles International Wine & Spirits competition award winners and deliciously fun food to exploring the amazing shopping and carnival rides, there's so much to do that guests will enjoy making repeat visits to the Fair to experience all that it has to offer.

Pure fun for the whole family! The L.A. County Fair runs Sept. 4- Oct. 3, 2010 and is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Connect to the L.A.
