2010 Storage Visions Conference Announces Micron as Platinum Sponsor

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - September 23, 2009) - The Ninth Annual Storage Visions Conference (SV 2010) announces that Micron Technology, Inc. will be a Platinum sponsor at this year's event. SV 2010 will be held at the Riviera Hotel Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, January 5 - 6, 2010.

The Storage Visions Conference is the premier event bringing together digital storage oriented people from throughout the digital content creation, distribution and user value chain.

Dean Klein, Vice President of memory system development at Micron will give a keynote talk on The Organics of Solid State Drives. Following is a description of the keynote: Part of SSDs popularity is due to their simple design, but designing them is anything but simple. To get the most performance from an SSD, you need to know NAND, how to manage it and how to manipulate the technology so that it can perform to the best of its ability. Micron is a leader in NAND and is applying that expertise to its portfolio of SSDs. While there are many players in the SSD place, few have expertise in NAND. In his keynote, Dean Klein will explain why understanding the underlying NAND architecture is critical for next-generation SSD performance and endurance. He'll also explain how this NAND expertise will open the door to a wider array of applications.

"We look forward to sponsoring Storage Visions and being an active participant in an event that brings together the industry's major players -- companies that are changing the rules for storage," said Justin Sykes, director of SSD marketing at Micron. "At SV 2010, we'll be introducing a suite of new SSDs that will bring new levels of storage performance for PC and server computing."

SV 2010 organizer Tom Coughlin welcomes Micron as a Platinum sponsor of SV 2010, "Storage Visions is pleased to welcome Micron, as a Platinum sponsor for the 2010 Storage Visions Conference. Solid state drives have become established as a key element in the storage hierarchy and we are pleased to have Micron participate in SV 2010, telling us about the design of SSDs and their contribution to new content rich applications."
