2012 Small Craft Harbours Prix d'Excellence Awarded to Mr. Perry David


WINNIPEG, MANITOBA--(Marketwired - Nov. 6, 2013) - Regional Director of Small Craft Harbours, Dean Calder, on behalf of the Honourable Gail Shea, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, today presented Mr. Perry David of Victoria Beach with a 2012 Small Craft Harbours Prix d'Excellence.

"Our Government is proud to award Fisheries and Oceans Canada's Small Craft Harbours Prix d'Excellence to Mr. Perry David," said Mr. Calder at the annual Freshwater Harbour Authority Advisory Committee meeting. "This award recognizes Mr. David's efforts over many years on behalf of the Harbour Authority at Victoria Beach, Manitoba, and his significant contribution as a regional and national representative of Harbour Authorities. The experience and dedication of individuals like Mr. David is key to the success of the Small Craft Harbours Program."

The Prix d'Excellence award made to Mr. David is in the category "National Individual Commitment".

Mr. David is President of the Victoria Beach Harbour Authority and President of the Freshwater Harbour Authority Advisory Council, which represents Harbour Authorities located on fresh water in Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and the Northwest Territories.

Mr. David showed his leadership and outstanding collaborative spirit following the Manitoba "weather bomb" of October 2010, when the Victoria Beach harbour suffered substantial damage. His efforts were pivotal in ensuring the safety of users and that repairs were carried out quickly. Mr. David's unflagging support was of invaluable assistance to Small Craft Harbours staff.

The Prix d'Excellence is awarded annually to celebrate the exemplary contributions made by Harbour Authorities in meeting the objectives of Fisheries and Oceans Canada's Small Craft Harbours Program. The award recognizes teams and individuals who have made significant contributions to their harbours and communities.
