LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwired - Sep 5, 2014) - The largest celebration of dance returns! The 3rd Annual 2014 Industry Dance Awards is coming to the AVALON Hollywood on Wednesday, September 10, 2014! Created to honor the artistic achievements and contributions of dancers, choreographers and others who have elevated the medium in popular culture, this year's ceremony will feature awards, performances, appearances and presentations by some of Entertainment's biggest stars including Nigel Lythgoe, Paula Abdul, Adam Shankman, Mary Murphy, Joe Tremaine, Kenny Ortega, Twitch & Allison Holker, Napoleon & Tabitha, and many others!
"Every year we get more and more excited about showing the world how our community is growing," said IDA organizers. "There's nothing holding dancers back from the spotlight in today's media -- new shows and platforms are giving artists the chance to showcase themselves like never before!"
In addition to a cavalcade of top-tier performances from the likes of Poreotics (So You Think You Can Dance, America's Best Dance Crew) and others, this year's ceremony will present the Innovator Award to Nigel Lythgoe of So You Think You Can Dance, recognizing his work in paving new avenues of exposure and opportunity for dance, dancers and choreographers. The Industry Dance Icon Award will be presented to Paula Abdul and the Lifetime Achievement Award will be given to Rhee Gold, dance's first motivational speaker, publisher of Dance Studio Life Magazine and producer of DanceLifeTV.com, for his motivational leadership and commitment to dance education in the performing arts industry.
The 2014 Industry Dance Awards hope to raise more than $100,000 to raise awareness and donation for cancer research and prevention, benefitting four non-profit organizations: The Keep A Breast Foundation, Breast Cancer Angels, Bright Pink and the Circle of Hope Foundation, best known for its "I'm A Dancer Against Cancer" campaign.
