2016 Cloud Computing and Business Intelligence Market Study Now Available From Dresner Advisory Services

Cloud BI Ranks at the Midpoint of Importance Among 30 Strategic Business Intelligence Topics and Technologies

NASHUA, NH--(Marketwired - Mar 31, 2016) - Dresner Advisory Services today published its 5th annual Cloud Computing and Business Intelligence Market Study, part of the Wisdom of Crowds® series of research. The report examines end user deployment trends and attitudes toward the technologies, tools, and solutions that employ one or more cloud deployment models.

The 2016 study indicates that cost, maintenance, and access are the leading perceived benefits of cloud business intelligence (BI), while the primary barrier to adoption remains perceived issues with security. Traditional BI functionality such as advanced visualization, ad-hoc query, dashboards, and end user self service lead the list of the most required cloud BI features.

"In 2016 we see urgency toward cloud BI continuing a gradual decrease from its peak in 2014," said Howard Dresner, founder and chief research officer at Dresner Advisory Services. "This is not unusual in maturing market technology segments, where the initial market hype levels out, even as deployments often increase. For the past five years we have observed growing adoption as users have developed both a comfort and familiarity with cloud-based applications, including BI."

In 2016, the vendor community expressed the ongoing importance of cloud BI. However, after converging somewhat in 2015, overall industry preference for public versus private cloud BI models is diverging in favor of public models, a finding that is also consistent with user preferences.

Wisdom of Crowds® research is based on data collected on usage and deployment trends, products, and vendors. BI users in all roles and throughout all industries contributed to provide a complete view of realities, plans, and perceptions of the BI market. To purchase a copy of the 2016 Cloud Computing and Business Intelligence Market Study, visit www.cloudbi.report.
