21st Century Grant Recipient Spells Out Success in Transforming His Arkansas Elementary School

Principal of Mabelvale Elementary to Present School Transformation Webinar Sponsored by ENI on September 28th

SCOTTSDALE, AZ--(Marketwire - Sep 14, 2011) - After years of struggling to make AYP, Mabelvale Elementary was recognized for the greatest increase in student test scores on the Arkansas Comprehensive Testing, Assessment and Accountability Program (ACTAAP).

Darian Smith, principal of Mabelvale Elementary School, and 2001 Administrator of the Year, will discuss the school's transformation in a webinar titled "Building the Foundation for Success," on Wednesday, September 28th at 10:30 a.m. CDT. This is the third installment of a nine-part school transformation webinar series sponsored by ENI.

Participants will learn ways to multiply leadership capacity, create and sustain an organizational culture conducive to student learning, and develop an organizational structure for improving school achievement. Educators will leave the webinar with ideas and resources to aid in school transformation initiatives.

Smith says, "Our customized coaching model, based on both National and Arkansas state standards, has been implemented in grades 3-5 to enhance the teacher's ability to identify and address learning deficits in literacy and math, based on standardized data. This has served as our foundation for boosting student achievement and has aided us in building capacity for long-term sustainability."

Darian has served as principal of Mabelvale Elementary School for the past six years. For more information or to register, please contact Melissa Myers at 800.443.0544 or visit
