22nd Gala des Grands Prix du tourisme quebecois: Gilbert Rozon Awarded the Prix du Ministre du Tourisme

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - May 4, 2007) - Just days after the official release of the programming for the 25th anniversary of the Just For Laughs Festival presented by Videotron, Gilbert Rozon finds himself in the spotlight once again. During the Gala annuel des Grands Prix du tourisme québécois, to be held this evening, the well-known Festival founder and businessman will be awarded the Prix du ministre du Tourisme by Mr. Raymond Bachand, Minister of Economic Development, Innovation and Exports and Minister of Tourism.

This prestigious government award recognizes an individual's exceptional contribution to tourism in Québec, whether in terms of earnings, economic development or personal commitment to important social issues. It is a great honour-for a great year of achievements by the founder of Just For Laughs.

For Gilbert Rozon, the Prix du ministre du Tourisme reflects the confidence of the public, the recognition of the media and the respect that he garners in the world of culture and business. He was recently named the "second most influential person on Québec's cultural scene" by daily newspaper La Presse (April 2007), and the company is the eleventh most admired by the Québec public, according to the Commerce magazine (March 2006). Without a doubt, Gilbert Rozon charms and inspires confidence, from every angle.

And rightly so. Established with equal parts genius and boldness, Just For Laughs is the world's largest comedy event. Every year it brings together thousands of artists, two million visitors, hundreds of thousands of tourists from around the world, 500 national and international media, and some 1,200 influential agents, producers and professionals who come to discover new talent. Beyond the millions of dollars in earnings and tax revenues that it generates every year, the Festival offers moments of pure magic and has also offered many stars their first big break including Tim Allen, Drew Carey, Rowan Atkinson (alias Mr. Bean), Ray Romano, Arturo Brachetti, Patrick Huard, Michel Courtemanche, Franck Dubosc and Daniel Lemire.

Today, Just For Laughs is a company with more than 200 full-time employees and some thirty road shows. With international management offices in Paris, London and Los Angeles, the group also organizes events in Nantes, France and Toronto, and participates in festivals in Edinburgh and Montreux. In addition, Just For Laughs is televised in 125 countries and on 95 airlines through its Gags series, an unprecedented success that, to date, has been seen by 2 billion viewers around the world!

When Just For Laughs blows out its twenty-five candles this July, it will celebrate more than its own anniversary. It will also celebrate a man of conviction, a visionary who nurtures a sense of beauty and novelty, a creator who remains true to his instincts and to the talent of others.
