About the Lawsuit

The complaint accuses the defendants of violations of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 emanating from the issuance of materially false and misleading statements and omissions regarding the Company's business practice of hacking into the cell phone messages of more than 4,000 people for years at News of the World run by News International, the Company's 100% wholly owned British subsidiary. News Corp. shares fell from over $18 per share in early July as news of the hacking leaked out, to below $14 per share in August 2011. Additionally, News Corp.'s proposal to purchase British Sky Broadcasting Group plc was withdrawn following the allegations.
