24 Heures to be the Exclusive Free Daily in the Montreal Metro as of January 2011

Quebecor joins forces with the Societe de transport de Montreal

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Dec. 16, 2010) - Following a call for proposals, the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) today announced a deal with Quebecor Media for the publication and exclusive distribution of the free daily 24 Heures in the Montreal metro system. This renewable agreement, of a minimum term of 5 years, will allow 24 Heures to make its way into metro stations starting on January 3rd, 2011.

This partnership between Quebecor Media and the STM will help the latter diversify its revenue sources and fuel its efforts to increase readership.

"As a company firmly established in Montreal, Quebecor Media understands the necessity to help meet the city's public transit challenges. That is why we are very happy to be joining forces with the STM and to leverage our media and technology networks to help create a mass movement towards public transportation," said Pierre Karl Péladeau, President and CEO of Quebecor Media.

Employing over thirty journalists, desk managers and photographers, 24 Heures has always sought to be close to the concerns of Montrealers by focusing first and foremost on local news.

The most widely distributed free daily in the Greater Montreal area, 24 Heures is already well known to metro users, who can currently grab copies outside metro stations, as well as to users of the Agence metropolitaine de transport (AMT) due to an exclusive distribution deal signed with the AMT in 2006.

"Our new distribution partnership with the STM will allow us to reach all metro users, throughout the day. This will undoubtedly contribute to accelerating the exceptional growth 24 Heures has experienced since being launched in 2001," said Christianne Benjamin, 24 Heures Editor and 24 Heures-24 Hours Vice-President at Sun Media Corporation.
