$246,000 to Support Haiti Earthquake Victims: RONA Customers and Employees Raise the Bar for Giving

BOUCHERVILLE, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Feb. 24, 2010) - RONA Inc. (TSX:RON), Canada's largest retailer and distributor of hardware, renovation and gardening products, today announced that it has collected more than $246,000 between January 16 and February 14 in its fundraising campaign held for the Canadian Red Cross in all RONA, Réno-Dépôt and TOTEM stores, and in the company's administrative and distribution centres.

In the wake of the Haitian earthquake disaster on January 12, RONA made its entire retail network of close to 700 stores available for a week-long fundraising drive on behalf of the Canadian Red Cross. In view of the public response to the enormous needs of victims, RONA extended the campaign for three additional weeks. Customers and employees responded to the appeal with a tremendous show of generosity.

"We've assisted in an outstanding act of team spirit on the part of our customers, dealer-owners and employees," said RONA president and CEO Robert Dutton. "We're proud that we were able to get our network to contribute, and we'd like to thank everyone for the support they gave the Red Cross and its relief program in Haiti."

During the same period, RONA responded to appeals from the Canadian Centre for International Study and Cooperation (CECI), to which it also donated products for Haitian relief.
