250 Bonus Places Added to Wiggle Super Series Season Opener

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Feb. 2, 2011) - The Wiggle Super Series will kick off with the free-to-enter No Excuses Sportive on Sunday March 20 - and because the 1,000 spaces for this incredibly popular road bike event have already been snapped up, another 250 entries are up for grabs from today (Wednesday February 2).

The event, near Grafham Water, will see riders follow the epic 80-mile route or the standard 45-miler on their bikes on some of the most scenic roads around Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire. It doesn't cost a penny to enter, although if you don't show up you will be charged £25, with all profits going to the NSPCC.

Event organiser Martin Barden, of UK Cycling Events, said: "With the No Excuses Sportive, we are offering something truly special - a new concept in sportive cycling. It's completely free of charge, unless, of course, you don't show up. It won't matter whether your car has broken down or your dog has eaten your cycling apparel. No excuses!"

Martin Talbot, Wiggle's director of marketing, said: "The No Excuses Sportive is going to be a great way to kick off the Wiggle Super Series. Road bikes are enjoying a real boom and the initial response to this event was terrific - the 1,000 spaces filled very quickly - so anyone wanting to grab one of the bonus 250 places is advised to sign up soon to avoid disappointment."

Riders can look forward to more than £10 of free sports nutrition, well stocked feed stations, disposable chip timing, mechanical support, massages, wash facilities for bikes, a finisher's medal, well marked courses and much more. Additional parking has also been secured to accommodate the extra 250 riders.

Martin Barden added: "With a great choice of routes and terrain - and no entry fees - there has never been a better time to get out and ride bikes. We look forward to seeing you on March 20 - no excuses!"
