$2.9 Million The Pick Jackpot Claimed

PHOENIX, AZ--(Marketwire - January 20, 2011) - A couple has come forward to claim the $2.9 million The Pick jackpot from the drawing on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010.

The winners, who wish to remain anonymous, purchased the winning ticket at Safeway, located at 1650 McCulloch Blvd. N. in Lake Havasu City.

The retired couple spends their winter in Lake Havasu City, and resides in Oregon the remainder of the year. They chose to take the cash option of approximately $1.7 million, planning to invest their winnings and also use it to travel, which they love to do.

"It's always a thrill when someone comes through our doors with a winning The Pick ticket," said Jeff Hatch-Miller, executive director of the Arizona Lottery. "The Pick is Arizona's own jackpot game, so it is especially gratifying when someone claims their prize."

Winning numbers for The Pick are broadcast Wednesday and Saturday during the 10 p.m. news on Channel 13 (CBS) in Tucson and posted on www.ABC15.com in Phoenix.

Players can check their numbers by logging onto www.ArizonaLottery.com or by calling the winning numbers hotline at 480-829-PICK in Phoenix and 1-800-499-3798 in all other Arizona areas. Players can also opt-in to receive winning number text alerts by texting "AZLOT" to 411247.
