2D Barcode Technology Taking Off in North America as Major Marketers & Media Providers Launch New Projects Powered by ScanLife

Metro News, Sprint and Volkswagen Lead the Way in Bringing Mobile Technology to Millions of Camera Phone Users

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - October 5, 2009) - A trend is growing throughout North America as marketers and media providers are using 2D (two-dimensional) barcode technology to make their traditional printed media more interactive. In the past few weeks Sprint, Volkswagen, Morgans Hotel Group, Metro News, and BISSELL Homecare, Inc. have all launched new projects which include ScanLife, a leading 2D barcode solution from Scanbuy, Inc. ScanLife includes a mobile application that converts a camera phone into a barcode reader, and a web platform which allows companies to create and track their 2D codes.

ScanLife 2D codes used in marketing or media campaigns over the last month include:

-- Sprint has placed EZcodes (2D barcodes) in direct mail campaigns which
are distributed to a large number of subscribers. One such code links to a
    sweepstakes entry to win Amazon's Kindle 2, which includes a 3G high-speed
    data connection from Sprint.

-- Volkswagen is using the technology to add interactivity to a brochure
for the highly acclaimed 2010 GTI. The brochure is being distributed to
all local dealerships and the codes link to videos and additional
    information.

-- Morgans Hotel Group is celebrating their 25th Anniversary with an
integrated advertising campaign which includes a ScanLife 2D code in the
form of a '25.' The link provides access to rich content including
exclusive videos, insider benefits, special offers and a listing of the
very best in food, bars, shopping, services and must-sees.

-- Metro News in Canada is now using the technology to connect their
daily newspaper directly to updated stories from their mobile Web site.
The paper is read by over a million people every day across seven major
    cities in Canada.

-- BISSELL, floor-care innovator and maker of home-cleaning products, has
placed EZcodes across an entire line of vacuum cleaners which are sold by
retailers nationwide. The codes link to additional information on the
product to help inform the shopper in the store.

The software is available to millions of camera phones from the world's most popular operating systems including Android, Java, Symbian, Windows Mobile, and others. Sprint is also pre-loading the ScanLife application on new phones in the United States like the Samsung Reclaim, Samsung Exclaim, and LG LX290.

"This recent activity shows the enormous potential of this technology and we believe that pre-loading the software on new phones will only make it more valuable," said Jonathan Bulkeley, Chief Executive Officer of Scanbuy. "These companies are really taking the lead in bringing innovative solutions to their customers."

Scott Williams, Chief Marketing Officer of Morgans Hotel Group, added, "ScanLife gives a level of immediate engagement to our traditional media which is very exciting. It's a great way to speak to our audience and provide them with exclusive offers that they can't really get anywhere else."

Businesses of all sizes can register to use the ScanLife Code Management Platform at www.scanlife.com to easily create 2D barcode campaigns. Additionally, any individual can use the platform for free to create Personal 2D barcodes that link to their contact information or social networking sites.
