2nd Watch Expands Into Asia-Pacific With Melbourne IT Partnership

AWS Premier Partners Will Provide Australian and New Zealand Businesses With Cost and Outcome Certainty as They Move Data and Business-Critical Applications to the Cloud

SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwired - Apr 14, 2015) - AWS Premier Partners 2nd Watch and Melbourne IT announce today an alliance to offer public cloud migration and management services to large companies in Australia and New Zealand. Through the agreement, 2nd Watch will offer its Cloud Factory service to Melbourne IT clients, which are typically enterprise and government entities. Cloud Factory is a suite of enterprise cloud services and tools from 2nd Watch that includes assessment, planning, design, migration and management of distinct workloads or entire data centers to Amazon Web Services (AWS) using a fixed-price model.

The initial wave of cloud activity in Australia and New Zealand has focused on building and launching web applications, test and development environments, and providing big data analytics capabilities in the cloud. The partnership between Melbourne IT and 2nd Watch will enable a new wave of cloud innovation as local enterprises move the majority of their business applications -- and entire data centers -- into the cloud. The Australian cloud computing market is expected to grow strongly over the next five years, averaging a CAGR of 30% from 2013 to 2018, when it's forecast to reach $4.55 billion, according to Frost & Sullivan.

"2nd Watch is a leading provider of public cloud enterprise workload management services and a top AWS partner in the United States," says Peter Wright, Executive General Manager Enterprise Services at Melbourne IT. "2nd Watch has outstanding expertise and capabilities around cloud migration which, combined with Melbourne IT's managed cloud solutions expertise, will bring significant opportunity for Australian/New Zealand businesses in the cloud space."

"Australia and New Zealand are rising cloud markets where companies have a thirst for innovation, experimentation and extracting value from technology," says Jeff Aden, 2nd Watch Co-founder and EVP of Strategic Business Development and Marketing. "We're thrilled to be working with a leading managed service provider in the region to grow our business in new ways and deliver the expertise of our large-scale cloud migrations in North America to regional customers that are in the beginning stages of their enterprise cloud journey."
