2nd Watch Taps Former NTT Communications Exec to Lead Managed Cloud Business

Data Center Expert Doug McMaster Tasked With Expanding 2nd Watch's Three-Year Old, Software-Enabled Service, Which Designs, Deploys and Manages Public Cloud Environments for Large Enterprises

SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwired - Jun 30, 2015) - 2nd Watch has appointed Doug McMaster to vice president of Managed Cloud, a software-enabled service acclaimed for expertly managing large-scale public cloud deployments. McMaster brings 15-plus years' experience to 2nd Watch, an original AWS Premier Partner and one of the first companies to achieve AWS Managed Service Partner certification. Most recently, McMaster was vice president of services at Solutions II, a nationally recognized IT consulting firm, and before that he led data center services at NTT Communications, the world's largest telecommunications company.

2nd Watch offers a wide variety of software-enabled-services through Managed Cloud. Highly trained staff use proprietary and third-party software to design, deploy and manage public cloud workloads and minimize costs. Managed Cloud has grown significantly since its launch in 2012: the service is now used by Diane von Furstenberg, Lenovo, Yamaha and other high-profile companies across tens of thousands of instances. These companies cite 2nd Watch's unique blend of services, close ties to Amazon Web Services (AWS), and deep understanding of AWS offerings as reasons for partnering with the firm.

The expansion of 2nd Watch's Managed Cloud business is in line with the industry trend toward greater use of outsourced IT infrastructure management services. A recent report from 451 Research found that managed services from cloud service providers are expected to grow from $17 billion in 2014 to $43 billion in 2018. The report also found that managed services revenue is growing 60% faster than infrastructure-only revenue.

"As more companies adopt public cloud, enterprises are seeking well-regarded, trusted stewards to manage their business-critical workloads," says Doug Schneider, CEO at 2nd Watch. "With the investment in and expansion of our Managed Cloud service we are positioning 2nd Watch to be a leader in this space for years to come. Doug is the ideal person to lead our Managed Cloud team as demand for enterprise public cloud workload management services continues to grow."
