30 Tons of Real Snow, Live Reindeer, Tree Lighting, Santa, Jolly Holiday Trolley, and More at Old Pasadena's Free Holiday Celebration

OLD PASADENA, CA--(Marketwire - November 18, 2008) - Old Pasadena comes alive with holiday festivities throughout the district starting on Friday, November 28. Join us for spectacular performances, live reindeer, 30 tons of real snow, a magical tree-lighting ceremony, a Jolly Holiday Trolley and much more that are guaranteed to start your holidays with joy -- and lots of fun! All activities taking place Friday, November 28, from 4:00P.M. to 9:00P.M. are free and open to the public.

Everything kicks off at 4:00P.M. with Old Pasadena's own winter wonderland located on Holly Street between Raymond and Fair Oaks. Kids can play in 30 tons of real snow, see live reindeer fresh from the North Pole, ride a holiday choo-choo train, create in a kids craft area, and enjoy live music in this spectacular children's winter playground.

Then, venture over to One Colorado at 6:00P.M. when Santa arrives to light the dazzling 35-foot Christmas tree and the 91st Rose Queen® makes one of her first public appearances. The 24-voice Marshall Fundamental Secondary School Chamber Choir will fill the air with heartwarming holiday carols and everyone's invited to sing along. At the Tree-Lighting, everyone is asked to bring an unwrapped toy or book for the Charles Cherniss Tournament of Toys toy drive, which benefits children throughout the San Gabriel Valley. Children and adults who donate an unwrapped toy or book will receive a free photo with Santa at One Colorado from 6:30P.M. to 9:00P.M., on November 28th only. Gifts are also being collected throughout the season in Smith Alley near Il Fornaio at One Colorado, Pasadena Senior Center and The Armory Center for the Arts.

Throughout the celebration, guests can also ride the free Jolly Holiday Trolley sponsored by Old Pasadena Management. Riders will enjoy live entertainment as they travel easily through the historic 22 block district. Catch the free trolley from one of the many stops throughout Old Pasadena including a stop at the Memorial Park and Central Park Metro Gold Line stations. The Jolly Holiday Trolley runs weekends beginning Friday, November 28, through Sunday, December 28.

Pasadena's largest holiday celebration is a free community event presented by Old Pasadena Management District, One Colorado, Metro, Pasadena Star-News and the Pasadena Jaycees.
