36 Hours of Roller Hockey to Beat a Guinness World Record and End MS

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Aug. 18, 2009) - To help end MS, some young Montrealers have decided to organize one of the biggest games of roller hockey ever played, for the benefit of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, Quebec Division. The game will last 36 hours, from Friday, September 11, at 7 p.m., to Sunday, September 13, at 7 a.m. This friendly contest will aim not only to beat the current Guinness world record of 24 hours but also to raise money for a good cause.

The 50 players participating in this activity will take turns on the playing surface at the Le Rinque complex (located at 5832 Cote-de-Liesse), passing the puck for four-hour shifts. To take part in the activity, each player who is already registered must first raise a minimum of $100 in pledges. Members of the public are therefore invited to support them by making an online donation, which they can do starting now. All they need to do is visit and choose one or more players to sponsor.

This three-day event will feature lots of fun surprises, as well as numerous activities for the whole family: entertainment, inflatable games for children, draws, auction, music, prizes, good food and much more! Members of the public who want to encourage the players and support the cause can do so on site, free of charge and without any need to register.

The initiators of this project, the Topor family, want to help a family member who was diagnosed with MS some years ago and support the 13,000 to 18,000 other Quebecers who have this disease. Multiple sclerosis is the most widespread neurological disease among young adults in Canada; indeed, it is most often diagnosed in people between the ages of 15 and 40.

Anyone interested in participating in the event or getting involved in any way can contact Jordan Topor directly at
