360training Acquires Healthcare Education Firm HSE

AUSTIN, TX -- (MARKET WIRE) -- June 22, 2006 -- 360training today announced it has acquired educational content provider, Home Study Educators (HSE), a Florida-based provider of continuing education for healthcare professionals in the dental industry.

Since its inception in 1991,HSE has helped 60,000 dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants and lab personnel comply with continuing education requirements.

Ed Sattar, CEO of 360training, said HSE's most desirable qualities are its great course content and brand recognition. Since HSE had limited marketing efforts since 2004, Sattar said the time was right to acquire the company.

Sattar said the best thing HSE could do was to be indoctrinated into the 360 model. That model consists of 360training converting HSE's content to an online format and distributing it through affiliates, channel partners and value-added resellers. With the acquisition of HSE, 360training will improve the delivery mode and increase the accessibility of the course content to healthcare professionals.

Sattar said data showed that the healthcare industry is noticeably behind in e-learning adoption as compared to other markets. "Some institutions and practitioners still prefer to get faxes versus receiving attachment via email," Sattar stated.

360training has monitored the healthcare industry for some time and found the easiest method of entry was buying an existing company. 360training's strategy was to "buy over build," an approach it took with a 2004 acquisition of a technical skills training company for the energy industry.

According to Sattar, 360 will implement a roll-up strategy to acquire additional allied healthcare training providers since e-learning in the health care industry is very fragmented as there are many small education providers as opposed to larger players servicing the bulk of healthcare professionals and their continuing education needs.

Dr. Cameron Carol, founder and president of HSE, knew there was a need for the company's services when she started reading a medical text book. "The first sentence was 107 words long and all it was trying to say was 'Listen to your patients,'" Carol said.

Carol, who worked as a dental hygienist before receiving her doctorate in healthcare education said the biggest strength of HSE was the ability to simplify boring, wordy text book information to make it much more interesting as a convenient study alternative for licensing requirements in the industry.

After the acquisition Carol will stay on as a subject matter expert, helping to create new courses and update existing programs.
