3rd Annual Bootyfest: Big Rock Teams Up to Raise Funds for the Ssubi Foundation

Please join us on May 28th for this one-day event where you can shake your booty and shop for affordably priced designer jeans

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - May 24, 2011) - Big Rock Brewery (TSX:BR), Canada's leading craft brewer, has joined forces with the Empire Collection and Ginger Laurier to host the 3nd Annual Bootyfest. In two years Bootyfest has raised close to $130,000 for the Ssubi Foundation. Not too shabby for 2 events.

Bootyfest Background

Bootyfest is a great party with all the essential ingredients: shopping, drinking, eating and fantastic tunes all while raising money for a worthwhile cause. A $50 ticket gets you entrance into the party, where you can purchase fantastic designer denim and outfits at a great price from Empire Collection, a Calgary clothing store with an unprecedented selection of exclusive and international brands of jeans and Ginger Laurier, a ladies boutique in Okotoks. Enjoy listening to the musical talents of Frankie Joe Rukundo, DJ Wes and Andrea Wettestein. There will be fresh Big Rock beer on tap, amazing Spolumbo's sausages on the grill, and Fiasco Gelato is serving up a custom Rock Creek Cider gelato. There will also be a great selection of silent auction items and a few surprises from Big Rock and The Ssubi Foundation. All the proceeds from the event go to The Ssubi Foundation.

The Ssubi Foundation

Ssubi translates into "Hope" in Ugandan. The Foundation was established to help eradicate poverty in Uganda through educational initiatives. Philip Ndugga, the founding director, grew up in Uganda and knows first-hand the difference that this event will make in the lives of Ugandan children. The Foundation helps in many ways, from infrastructure projects (teacher accommodations, latrines and classrooms), to supporting teacher training, sponsoring children and donating scholastic materials and sporting equipment. All work is done in association with the schools administrators and District Education Officer and complies with school development plans. Representatives from both Big Rock Brewery and The Ssubi Foundation will be available for media interviews between 2:15 and 2:45 pm on Saturday May 28th.
