4 Websites Developed by Vision Internet Recognized for Outstanding Achievement in Local Government Communications

Kansas Public Water Utility and Municipalities in Maine, Nevada and Utah Win National Website Awards

SANTA MONICA, CA--(Marketwired - Sep 17, 2014) - What do Reno, Nevada; Westbrook, Maine; Provo, Utah and the largest public water utility in Kansas have in common? All four won national awards this month for websites designed by the online government innovators at Vision Internet.

Judges of the City-County Communications & Marketing Association's (3CMA) Savvy Awards presented WaterOne (waterone.org) with a Savvy Silver Circle Award in the Digital Interactive - Overall Website category. WaterOne is the largest independent public water utility in Kansas, serving more than 400,000 customers.

The Savvy Awards, which saw more than 600 entries this year, honor outstanding local government achievements in communications, public-sector marketing and citizen-government relationships and were presented at the 3CMA National Conference in Minneapolis, Minn. early this month.

3CMA judges lauded WaterOne's complete website makeover for its "very simple and clean" design that makes it "easy to find information." The Vision Internet redesign, which transformed WaterOne's website into a highly interactive and useful online portal, has resulted in a 23 percent increase in site traffic and 35 percent increase in online requests since it launched last year.

"Today's local government is all about providing value-driven services and maintaining transparent communications with constituents," said Mandy Cawby, WaterOne's communications manager. "Our website is critical to our mission that services be provided when, where and how our customers need them. An easily accessible website is the platform we need to do business. We are honored by the 3CMA recognition."

In the Interactive Media Awards (IMA) competition judges recognize the highest standards of excellence in website design and development. This year they honored websites that Vision Internet developed for Westbrook, Maine (westbrookmaine.com), Reno, Nev. (reno.gov), and Provo, Utah (provo.org). Each won an outstanding achievement award in the Government category. The awards competition was created by the Interactive Media Council, Inc. (IMC) to elevate the standards of excellence on the Internet and honor outstanding achievement.

Westbrook's website features breathtaking images of kayakers going over Saccarappa Falls, historic City photos and beautiful architecture throughout the City. "Our goal was to make our City's website visually appealing, flexible, interactive and informative," said Bill Baker, Westbrook assistant city administrator of business and community relations.

Citizen engagement was top priority for the City of Reno. "We designed this website with citizens in mind. It is our hope that residents will visit our website and become inspired to participate in their neighborhoods, in our greater community and in city government," said Deanna Gescheider, Reno director of communications and community engagement.

Provo, Utah also put citizens first when redesigning its new website. "The website is one of our most important tools in our ongoing effort to communicate," said Provo Mayor John Curtis. "The redesign allows for a greater level of transparency and helps us to better organize and present valuable information."

With all the sites, Vision Internet's innovative government content management system, visionCMS™, lets non-technical staff add, edit and delete website content quickly and easily while maintaining quality, control and consistency.

"Vision Internet's new CMS allowed us to create a website that is captivating, informative and easy to use for both city staff and community members," said Brian Nye, Provo's creative team leader.
