48% of Businesses Plan to Hire More IT Contractors Than Full-Time Staff in Next 12-18 Months According to Survey From Mondo

32% of Respondents Plan to Increase Annual IT Contractor Budget

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Nov 20, 2013) -  Forty eight percent of respondents plan to hire more IT contractors than full-time staff, in the next 12-18 months, according to a new survey conducted by Mondo, a technology resourcing provider. The survey also revealed that 32 percent expect to increase their annual IT contractor budget in the next 12-18 months.

According to the survey, an overwhelming 73percent of survey respondents currently use contractors for application services, which includes application development, web and mobile development, application hosting and application maintenance. In fact, an average of $.48 of every IT outsourcing dollar is spent on application services.

Specifically, in the application services area, 30 percent of respondents indicated they plan to outsource more application development work and 27 percent plan to outsource more mobile and web development in the next 12-18 months.

"We are entering the era of the elastic workforce and businesses want to have access to experts and hard to find talent, when they need it, without taking on new overhead," said Michel Kirven, CEO of Mondo. "By leveraging IT contractors, CIOs and CMOs are empowered with access to the right resources at the right time, and can dedicate the proper skills to the task at hand."

In addition to application services, respondents indicated that other areas under consideration for more IT contractor work in the next 12-18 months include:

*Application maintenance (26%)
*Data center operations (22%)
*Network operations (21%)
*Database administration (14%)

The survey is based on responses from more than 200 IT decision-makers. The report also includes data from Mondo's thousands of contract IT placements, from June 2012-2013.
