SAGUENAY, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Oct. 31, 2013) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, today announced that Groupe Photo Média International Inc. has been granted financial assistance to present the fourth Zoom Photo Festival Saguenay.
"By lending financial support to the Zoom Photo Festival Saguenay, our Government is demonstrating its commitment to promoting the growth of tourism, a profitable sector for the Quebec economy," said Minister Lebel.
Since its foundation in 2005, Groupe Photo Média International, whose flagship product is the Zoom Photo Festival Saguenay, has helped build tourism in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region. This event is a major international showcase for photography as an artistic, humanitarian, cultural and social product.
Now in its fourth year, the Festival will be held in the City of Saguenay from October 29 to November 24, 2013. The event will feature photographic performances, multimedia projections, conferences, workshops and images from photojournalism directories. More than 130,000 visitors are expected, including 15 percent from abroad.
This support, granted in the form of a $30,000 non-repayable financial contribution, has been awarded through Canada Economic Development's Quebec Economic Development Program.
